Hot Dam!

The Boardman River dam(s) are coming down!

This means colder water. Which means brook trout can have a chance to repopulate.  36 miles of the river are designated as a Blue Ribbon trout stream….so we got that going for us…which is nice.

Word is that this would represent the largest ever river-restoration project undertaken in Michigan, and possibly one of the most comprehensive dam removal and restoration projects in the country!

Sending a kudos out to Michigan Trout Unlimited and all the great work from volunteers advocating for this.

This is great news that will make a great river even greater. Can’t wait to paddle the Boardman’s new rapids.
